We get to come back home for a visit! Just the three of us girls :).
Courtesy of the most generous, big hearted, sweetest auntie in the world ;). I don t think thete are sufficient adjectives to describe her ;). It was the biggest surprise but a welcome one, we miss everyone horribly!
Mr Man cant legally enter the US, so he will be staying home. It will be the first time either of the girls has spent the night (let alone a week) away from him! As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder :).
I am busy searching for perfect gifts (small enough to take on an airplane) , making lists of things I "need" from the states, and trying to figure out how to carry 2 girls, 2 suitcases, 2 carseats and 2 carry ons :) thank goodness for babywearing, right? Although that amount of stuff goes beyond the capacoty of babywearing Im afraid!

Oh, I can totally relate! That is my life! Travelling with two little ones, minus Daddy. Always.
ReplyDeleteThe first time we flew back to the States my girls were 8 months and 22 months. Let's just say I don't want to repeat it. If I am correct, your girls are a bit older, both walking, or will be by then. That will help out.
My advice, if you haven't already thought of this, is to book a bit of time between flights. I always flew through Houston or Dallas, and getting through customs, with little ones by yourself and making it to your next flight takes some time. I always choose the 4 or 5 hour layover. It is a good amount of time to get off the flight, get through customs, get something to eat and even let the girls take a nap (I just laid their blankets on the floor and told them to close their eyes and they fall asleep) and then catch the next flight and not have grumpy kids that are hard to deal with. And, you can give the girls time to recoupe a bit. When my 22 month old got tired, I couldn't carry her because I was already carrying the little one that couldn't walk. I ended up dragging her with the "leash" that she was wearing. It was a monkey that went on like a backpack and the tail was the "leash". I'm sure I looked crazy, but what else was I to do?
At one point a lady in front of me that was standing in line waiting to board one of our flights offered to carry one of the girls! I was so thankful! Hopefully you have an OK time and your girls are good for you. I just didn't give us enough time to rest. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteValarie - sounds crazy! My littles re 2.5 years old and almoat 11 months. The baby iant qqquuiiittteee wqlking but almost. Frankly it will be easier to put her in a wrap on my back than chasing after a new walker (if she walks by then ) . So you liked those backpack "helpers"? I have be contemplating getting one for the older one, especially when the littl one IS walking - then they will be going three directions at once! Eeeeeee cant imagine. I hope I have enough time between flits, I only have 1 hour 45 minutes. How long does getting through customs take? I was hoping thee girls would nap on the plane ( the little one sleeps reqlly well while being worn in the wrap.
The only kid relatd concern I have right now (besides carrying them lol) is that the oldest is still new to using the potty 100% of the time. I put a diaper on her at night but its always dry in the morning. It will be less than a month since she ditched the diapers hen we fly. Uuugggg...
