Just noticed, the blog has 25 followers!
Call me a dork, but it made my day. I started this blog to keep family and friends up to date back home on our lives here in Mexico City. With two young ones, I figured people would enjoy seeing pictures and reading anecdotes about their mischevious behavior. Also, I figured family back home would enjoy reading all the positive experiences we are having in our new home and also really enjoy realizing we hadnt been kidnapped for ransom by a cartel member ;)
It is hard to see from the States, how normal and content a family can be living here in Mexico. The media only runs stories that make good headlines. Of course they don't run "Toddler Girl Makes Friends With Old Guy at Market and Recieves Free Bubble Wand" or "Baby Learnes To Do Headstands in Hotel in Acapulco" or "American Woman Gorges Herself on Fresh Fruit Daily and Loses 40 Pounds in 4 Months" . Those headlines don't sell papers or bring more viewers. They are however, much closer to the truth for our life here in Mexico.
After I started blogging little stories and thoughts on our life here, I somehow stumbled onto other blogs of expats here in Mexico. There are tons of families who have relocated to Mexico (and other countries). Some with young families, some as retirees, some as young adults. Some willingly, some forcibly, some temporarily, and some permanently. I love reading their stories on how life is normal, different, the same, scary, exciting, relaxing, stressful, new... And everything else under the sun.
In honor of all 25 of the blogs followers, I would love to hear from you on what brings you here, or what you have in common with us, or just a hello! I know who the first two followers are, family members from back home M and S . :)
Thanks for tuning in for our stories!
PS the 2.5 year old just informed me she is going to work. Those are broken sunglasses she is wearing. In her purse are 6 markers and 2 spoons. Just what you need to go to work, right?
